Nakatsuka Sewing Machine Factory Co., Ltd.
Nakatsuka Sewing Machine Factory Co., Ltd.
Nakatsuka Sewing Machine Factory is a long-established sewing manufacturer run by a married couple.
The first generation with too good personality
Founded in Kotobukicho, Izumiotsu City in 1950, Nakatsuka Sewing Machine Factory Co., Ltd. was established in 1960, 10 years later.
The first generation was too good to lend money to an acquaintance, and although he had a hard time becoming a guarantor and taking over his debt, he got on the wave of the postwar boom and made the company bigger.
The second president who is humane
“My father was a business person,” recalls Mr. Nakatsuka, the third-generation current president. From that episode, we can see that the second president is as "hearty" as the first president.
The second generation is a very liquor-loving president, and it seems that he used to recruit company staff at an izakaya. When I saw a person who complained, "I have a tough night job because my child is small. I want to work in the daytime."
In addition, we hired people with disabilities, and even in the midst of a booming labor shortage, we hired people who were close to each and every employee.
On the other hand, he was also a person who introduced advanced technology such as introducing a large machine that other sewing companies do not have and enabling line production of blankets.
Challenge of the 3rd president - New possibilities for blankets
Unlike the predecessor, the third generation of the current president has less words and is a craftsman.
There is always a wife on that side. Such two people continue trial and error not only in mass production but also in product development that is close to the user. This is because I know from many years of manufacturing that durable and easy-to-use products enrich people's lives.
"Curved blanket stitching" has transformed the blanket into a more user-friendly shape. It also made it possible to make miscellaneous goods other than blankets.
I feel "honest warmth" and "excitement to challenge" in Mr. Nakatsuka's manufacturing.
Takumi's technique-Curve sewing of blankets
It is extremely difficult to sew a thick fabric such as a blanket with a thickness of 2.5 cm to 0.5 cm in a curved line.
This is because the seams may come off or the fabric may be pulled during sewing.
And the blanket is also characterized by the wide range of expansion and contraction depending on the fabric. This characteristic makes curved stitching even more difficult.
Takumi's skill-Take care of the fabric
The current president and his wife say that only experienced sewers can understand "this fabric is easy to stretch", "this fabric is this sewing method", and "this sewing method is twitching".
Skilled sewers pick up each piece of fabric and sew it with their experience and feelings.
Such craftsmen are not afraid of new challenges. In response to the president's desire to "make something like this," we are repeating trial and error.
